Birthright International: Gala Postcard Invites

birthright_2011_invite_web

For last two years, Jessie Lynn Images has developed the annual Gala Invitation for Birthright International in Ranson, WV. Birthright is an international organization that provides caring, non-judgmental support to girls and women who are distressed by an unplanned pregnancy.

The 2010 Gala was a “Cotton Club” jazz club theme and this year is “BIG BAND”.  Images and font-choicest reflect classy antiquity.  The events are held at the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.

KRL Postcard Mailer

krl_postcard_mailer_web1

To get the attention of office managers and assistants in law firms, KRL wanted a large postcard mailer that was eye-catching and stood out from the rest.  KRL provides the important translation of medical cases’ complicated jargon into understandable language for the lawyers, etc.

We decided on the gavel and stethoscope image as a classic example of what KRL does; bridging these two worlds in translation, etc. The blue in the stethoscope contrasts well with KRL’s black-and-red logo.

Running down the left-hand side of the 8.5×6″ postcard is text with highlighted words in red, indicating high-pressure words like: shortness of breath, misdiagnose, and arrhythmia to name a few.  The text is actually a write-up of warning signs for heart attacks, strokes, and preventative measures for these; but the highlighted words are to trigger some of the anxiety of not knowing what to do in the case of an emergency, or for some law-offices, what to do with medical information that might be foreign to them.

LaMontagne at Bluemont

lamontagne_buscard1

The LaMontagne business card reminds me of  the classic black-&-white cookie, one side with white frosting and the other black.  Except, the LaMontagne business card splits itself between stunning-color bridal images taken on the property by photographer Vicki Grafton.

The owner liked simple but elegant when it came to the logo and insisted on this simple standard.  The simplicity in the logo showcases the many colors in the photos fantastically.

LaMontagne at Bluemont is located in Bluemont, Virginia.  It is a rustic country setting, inviting, and a well-tailored venue for wedding events and intimate parties.

The beginnings of a website was developed for LaMontagne, to serve as a simple landing page until further pictures of the property are taken and a more in-depth site can be built.

(The thin black line was added to the photo of the business card to show the delineation of where the card would end)

WV Historic Trails: Logo and Brochure Design

Jessie Lynn Images was honored to win the West Virginia State bid for their upcoming Historic Trail projects last summer.  Two logos and two detailed 24-page brochures were commissioned for their West Virginia Historic Theatre Trail and their West Virginia Historic New Deal/CCC Trail.  Patty Smith, designer and photographer, joined Jessie Lynn Images on this multifaceted project.

wv_logosThe logos were designed in harmony with one another; similar color palettes, same font-use, etc, so that the trails were visually linked to one another.  The Historic Theatre Trail uses the old fashioned marquee to gather together and centralize the text of the logo, giving off the historic flair of the trail’s sites.

The Historic New Deal/CCC logo was designed around the shield-shape found on the historic CCC patch.  Evergreens were used as a backdrop in this logo; extensive planting of trees was done by the CCC during the time period around the Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal projects and legislation.  The intertwining CCC lettering was kept atthe bottom of the logo, similarly foundon the historic patch.

(Both Brochure Covers)

Brochures were developed (rack-size) for both historic trails; 24-pages each, they describe the sites themselves with a map on the back of each brochure highlighting all of the sites for easy WV tourist travel and enjoyment.  Designing the brochure covers (shown left), we wanted to highlight as many of the sites as possible and went for a collage approach with both.  The cover was designed vertically, so it would be be easily viewed in a brochure case.  The internal workings were done on the horizontal, however, for easier viewing.  Our goal with layout was to show off the sites pictures as much as possible without losing essential “white-space” for easy reading when it came to the text.

CNC Construction: Logo and Business Cards

CNC Construction Logo

CNC Construction Logo

CNC Construction recently hired Jessie Lynn Images to complete their logo design project.  The focus was to create something that had a feminine flair and showed that the company was woman-owned and ran.  We went with a fuchsia- purple color that was ultra-feminine (with some punch) and surrounded it by a warm-soothing yet strong brown.  The internal set of the  square logo mark is taken from the illustrative capital “N” in a script font.

Next came CNC’s business card design.  The client liked the textured, painterly look, so we weathered the surface of the business card; the combination created something sophisticated and sturdy, perfect for a woman-owned construction company.  Thank you to CNC.

Catering Website

web_design_ccThis past November, Jessie Lynn Images, created a brand new website for Cambridge Catering out of NYC.  Moving away from the concentration of the aqua blue in the original website, we decided to move towards a warmer more modern coco-brown background that compliments the bright orange, aqua, and lime green found in the original logo.  To host Cambridge’s large catering menu, we chose to use a drop-down menu for ease if use.  To high-light up-and-coming items or pages of interest we went with the modern yet simple use of the rounded square elements.

Investing Back Into Your Business:

investing_back_web

Proud of Your Marketing Tools:

A great way to invest back into your business is to take a good look at your marketing tools.  Are they outdated?  Are they communicating what you intended?  Are they presenting in a way that you are proud and that is consistent with your brand?

A Recent Example of a Marketing Make-Over:

Prospect Hall (a private shooting club in WV), just revamped their marketing look with a fresh make-over.  We refreshed their existing logo, made away with an outdated website, and took their new web-look as inspiration for creating a simply-classy business card.

How the Project Started: the Logo

Every 5 to 10 years you should take a fresh look at your logo.  Is it current with the times?  As your business has grown, changed, and expanded; is it still speaking well and accurately on the business’s behalf?  (See Pricing for a New Logo)

Prospect Hall decided it was time to take new look at their existing logo.  We tweaked a few key aspects of the logo to render a more accurate depiction of the feel that Prospect Hall actually exudes and what it offers to its members.  For example, the original somewhat “sturdy” font used in the existing logo was not speaking well to the class and sophistication found at Prospect Hall.  It was replaced with a more distinguished and somewhat stately font combination.  Imagery within the actual crest, was replaced with more compelling and accurate imagery; putting the focus more on the shooting sports and hunting activities vs. the fishing offered there.

Because fishing was still an aspect in which Prospect Hall might want to develop further in the future, we included the small touch of a fishing lure to the end of the “P” in Prospect Hall.  The red wrapper around the crest was altered from its original rose-red to a cooler-red, to further complement the existing colors in the logo.

What Came Next: the Website

Because the majority of Prospect Hall’s activities are preformed in the great outdoors, their new website exhibits a pallete of earthy colors similar to what you would find in the tall grasses and expanding fields found on their property.  Their logo is prominently displayed next to a cascading view of changing pictures of the property in a custom Flash Slide-Show.  Key points about the club are highlighted on the homepage and the site is now information rich for potential members to research and dive into. Physical Marketing Tools: the Business Card

For classic hand-to-hand marketing, we used the website’s filigree accents as a hallmark in the actual card, making the transition from business card to website flawless.
